In a traditional address to the nation a day ahead of the campaign silence day of the elections for President and Vice-President and national referendum, Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev urged all voters to go to the polls on 6th of November.
The address was broadcast at 20:00 on BNT on 4th of November.
He has said that the vote of the people is the most powerful instrument for setting the country’s direction of development. Plevneliev urged to vote wisely, support sustainable solutions and open room for values and morality, democracy, peace and freedom.
President Plevneliev called for the political parties and all participants in the forthcoming elections to respect the sovereign’s right to make their choices freely and independently. “Let us not burden the day of reflection with attempts at manipulation and with irregular practices of attracting votes,“ he said.
“This is a well-known approach from the recent past. However, everyone should be aware that such a success is deceitful and the damage it inflicts on the political system and the civil society is far more serious. All of us should treat our people with respect, believe in its wisdom and accept the people’s choice no matter what it is,” the President noted.
