By Decree 129 of today, May 12, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev appointed a new caretaker government headed by Prime Minister Stefan Yanev. The ministers were sworn in.
At an official ceremony, the head of state presented the composition, structure and priorities of the caretaker cabinet that will run the country until the early elections (July 11). He expressed hope that the next 46th National Assembly would be able to elect a new cabinet.
"The 45th Parliament was marked by a lot of emotions. Although short-lived, its life was not in vain. It will remain as a dramatic milestone in our society's exit from authoritarianism and corruption," Radev said.

According to him, this Parliament has not fulfilled people's expectations for a new government based on sound foundations of integrity and the law. And this, according to him, is a lesson for all parties on the eve of the new election campaign.
"Although a caretaker one, the cabinet I appoint today has the ambition to be a cabinet of democratic unity. It includes people from the left, centre and right, politically neutral professionals, proven administrators and experts, free entrepreneurs and figures who express the public discontent," he said. the head of state.
According to him, this caretaker cabinet proves what was not achieved in the 45th National Assembly. Namely: that it is possible for democrats of different political affiliations to overcome outdated divisions and red lines among themselves, and to unite around the cause of a free, just Bulgaria.
"We are facing difficult months, a heavy legacy and increased resistance from the forces of the status quo. In this situation, this cabinet faces important tasks - to ensure the proper functioning of the state, to ensure fair elections, waging war on vote buying, to reveal what the real picture in the country is, and most importantly: to take the first step towards strengthening the statehood," the President noted.

He addressed future ministers, saying they must work hard to prove that caring for people is the top priority of any government.
"You will have to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, to bring order to the chaos of vaccinations, to make the difficult decision about the Recovery and Sustainability Plan," Radev added.
The President congratulated them on their courage to take responsibility in this difficult situation and expressed confidence that the Bulgarian public will support them.
In this situation, governing the country requires leadership, professionalism and dedication, Radev said.
"That is why my choice fell to the people in front of you. The caretaker Prime Minister will be Mr. Stefan Yanev, Secretary for Security and Defence at the Presidential Institution. In the previous caretaker government I appointed, he was responsible for organizing the elections. A Bulgarian General, a worthy officer and diplomat," the head of state added.
