Traffic police developed a map of the most dangerous roads in the country, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior said on 7th of February.
The aim is to make analysis of the causes and identify measure to reduce the heavy road accidents.
The list is made on the basis of statistics on road accidents that caused deaths and injuries. Nine are the most dangerous roads in Bulgaria, the statistics for 2016 shows. The list includes: Rousse – Byala road – 246 accidents, 7 people died and 89 were injured; Hemus motorway; the road Simitli – Kresna; Plovdiv – Assenovgra; Plovdiv – Karlovo; Stara Zagora - Kazanlak; Varna - Bourgas; Veliko Turnovo – Debelets, after Hemus motorway; the road towards Veliko Turnovo after Hemus motorway to the junction for Teteven.
in most cases the cause of the accidents was speeding, Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry said. The next most frequent reason was overtaking where it was unsafe to do so. Traffic police is increasing the control in the road sections with highest number of accidents by installing mobile cameras.
