The steps symbolise their dreams, desires, efforts and their courage to go forward
Burgas marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by symbolically constructing a “Path to Accessibility and Tolerance.” The path was created by users of the city’s social care services, who crafted a total of 31 steps.

The route begins at the square in front of the town hall, continues along Aleksandrovska Street, and ends at St. Cyril and St. Methodius Square, where participants released colourful balloons into the sky together.
The initiative carries the message that every person has their place and value, deserving respect and dignity.

The steps, painted by people with disabilities, symbolise their dreams, wishes, efforts, and courage to move forward despite challenges.

Walking the path demonstrates that society can be warmer, more compassionate, open, tolerant, and humane. It is a gesture of support, respect, and hope — a step toward a world where everyone is accepted and visible, reminding us that true strength is measured not by physical abilities but by the spirit we carry within ourselves.
