At the first special meeting of the new caretaker government on 30th of January, Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdhikov gave a two-week deadline to all ministers to make a complete review of the performance in their ministries. The cabinet appointed its representatives in the Council for Tripartite Cooperation and designated the Deputy Prime Minister for Internal Order and Security and defense minister, general Yanev as responsible for the conduct of the early parliamentary elections.
PM Gerdzhikov required the ministers to present the reports with the analysis on the state of the ministries within two weeks. In the event of identifying corruption practices, the PM insisted that the ministers present specific proposals for dealing with such practices.
After the meeting, PM prof. Gerdhikov and the ministers of health, finance and social policy gave a briefing. The finance minister, Kiril Ananiev, announced the government’s estimate for the forthcoming early elections. Preliminary estimates show the cost will be approximately 30 million BGN (15 million euro).
The finance minister said that according to the estimates, the cost would be 29,905,000 BGN and those funds would ensure the functioning of all ministries and agencies that would take part in the organization and technical preparation of the early parliamentary elections.
