Former Director of the National Palace of Culture (NDK), Miroslav Borshosh, appeared for an interview on 19 July in the National Investigation Service in relation to the repair of the building. Charges have been pressed against him form inappropriate spending of the funds allocated for the preparation of NDK building for Bulgaria’s forthcoming presidency of the council of the EU, Borshohs explained upon leaving the investigation service.
He said no evidence was presented to him. He described his work as significant and done in compliance with the law.
Borshosh added he would present his stance before the ad-hoc parliamentary committee on NDK on 25 July.
Miroslav Borshosh was dismissed as NDK Director on 26 June by Minister Lilyana Pavlova over alleged systematic failure to comply with instructions given by the sole owner of the capital, as well as a systematic failure to comply with decisions of the Board of Directors.
For his part, Borshosh said that he refused to sign any public procurements connected with the preparation of NDK for the EU Presidency under pressure and in conditions which were not complaint with the rules and the law.
After a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 27 June, Borhsosh was reinstated to post.
On 29 June, Borshosh withrew form the post for the duration of checks into NDK's financing. The checks were opened after an alert from a member of the NDK management.
