The children of the "New masters" school in Kyustendil began drawing the Fire Salamander over a 300-step staircase in the center of the city. The stairs lead to one of the natural emblems of the city - the Hissarlaka Hill. This is another artistic challenge, since last year the same young artists depicted the face of Vladimir Dimitrov-The Master in the central square of the city with a 150m2 footprint!
The idea to draw this particular creature with the black-yellow scales is not random, this is actually the Fire Salamander. The young artists explain...
Yordan Georgiev: We chose to draw the Fire Salamander because it is one of the few protected types of lizard that you can find here. It is the symbol of the city.
Evgeny Seramfimov: From conception, we wanted to make the drawing unique to us and our city. The first limitation was the terrain of the staircase and thinking about what we could actually fit. I didn't want us to just paint them with bright colors and copy other places like Mexico, Rio, France of Italy. I told myself "there has to be an image." That's when I thought of the Fire Salamander because it is a very interesting animal.
