The commander of the helicopter that crashed during exercise in the Black Sea, Captain Georgi Atanasov has died, the head of staff of Bulgarian Navy announced on 9th of June.
He was 38 years old.
Helicopter AS Panther – 565 crashed into the Black Sea earlier today around 12:30, 7 miles east of the mouth of Kamchia river during an exercise, the Ministry of Defence said.
According to BNT information, the cause for the tragic incident was a maneuver at the end of the exercise in which the helicopter caught one of the flags on the frigate.
