On 19 March, the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water – Varna received reports from citizens and non-governmental organisations about dead birds discovered along the coastline near Shabla.
An immediate on-site inspection confirmed the presence of dead albatrosses.
Authorities assisted in the swift transport of samples to a laboratory of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency in Sofia. Test results are expected later today.
The area where the birds were found has been secured.
