EC President Juncker Congratulated Borissov on His Appointment as Prime Minister

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker congratulated Boyko Borissov on his appointment as Prime Minister.

In the letter to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 5^th of May, Juncker highlights the important moment in which the government of Boyko Borissov takes office and expresses hopes to continue working together. "I sincerely hope that we can continue to work together in addressing the challenges of the European Union on the basis of our common institutions and strong values making it a community of peace, freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, a major economic power with unparalleled levels of social protection and welfare, “ the letter says.

"We, the leaders of the European Union, agreed in March in Rome that we want a European Union to be a safe, secure and blessed place to be competitive, sustainable and socially responsible, to have the will and the ability to play a key role in the world " Juncker said.

The President of the European Commission also highlighted some of the important tasks on the EU agenda, which require determination and hard work during the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

“I look forward to working with you to deliver these goals, focusing on what citizens expect from us. Strengthening the protection of our common borders, a successful and more solidarious management of our common migration and asylum policies, the completion of our digital single market and increasing the resilience of our Energy Union are important tasks that will require our joint determination and our committed work during the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. We count on you and your leadership," Juncker wrote.

"I wish you every success for your Government and on a personal level I am delighted that we can continue our close partnership. I look forward to seeing you very soon," the EC President said.
