The town of Karlovo (South Central Bulgaria) is the host of the lavender festival. The two day event begins on 23rd of June with an exhibition of Bulgarian and foreign manufacturers of essential oils. Guests from Greece, Turkey, France and Ukraine will take part in a round table, which will discuss the problems of the producers.
Zara Klisurova, the chair of the Union of producers of essential oils told BNT that one of the aims of the international forum was to enlarge the knowledge and the possibilities for farmers from the area of essential oil production.
She said she expected good lavender harvest this year.
The Mayor of Karlovo, Emil Karaivanov explained that this was the third edition of the festival. He confirmed that Bulgaria remained the world’s biggest producer and exporter of lavender and added that about 1o,000 decars of lavender and pepper mint were grown in the area.
