At present, the forecasts for large amounts of precipitation does not pose any risk for the population and the environment in the areas of the big dams, operated by the National Electric Company (NEC EAD the company reports on 3 July. The dam walls and the facilities to them are in good technical condition and fulfill their purpose without limitations. The river sections behind the dam walls, managed by NEC are cleaned and can carry out the released water quantities.
The water volumes and levels are controlled by the expert teams of the company in compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Environment and Waters and the approved plans, the report says.
In the event of meteorological conditions for possible flow of large volumes of water, planned preventive actions are taken in order to reduce the adverse impact on the areas after the dam walls, NEC informs.
The employees of ‘Dams and Cascades’ enterprise keep in touch with the relevant structures and responsible persons from the local, regional and state administrations engaged in the protection of the population in case of disasters and accidents, the company underlines.
