An organized criminal group for trafficking of illegal migrants was disrupted during a joint operation of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior, State Agency for National Security and the Prosecutor’s Office conducted in the area of Lions Bridge in Sofia on 7th of March. More than 10 people, including Bulgarians and Arabs, have been detained. Charges for people trafficking will be pressed against 6 of them. Weapons were found during a search in hostels in the area.
Meanwhile, a lorry carrying 60 migrnats, most of them with documents, was stopped for a check on Lomsko Shosse in Sofia. The check identified the driver’s blood alcohol content was 3 promiles.
An average of 10 and 25 illegal migrants are detained in Sofia every day.
