Pink Campervan on Tour in Bulgaria to Help Women with Breast Cancer

Cancer is becoming a more common diagnosis for women across the country. The foundation “One in Eight” wishes to reach even the smallest cities and villages and to show the ladies that they can keep fighting. Art therapy, make-up and wigs will be offered to women who go through chemotherapy.

There will be a culinary module to cook food at the destinations and to offer recipes for women who need special diets to keep their body strong during the most difficult stages of the treatment.

Antonina Topalova, a psychologist and a breast-cancer survivor, retells the stories and the lessons she’s learned from her experience. She claims that it isn’t the condition that is scary, but our attitude to it. “A psychologist in America conducted a study with 30,000 people for 8 years and found that 46% of those who perceived the condition as a great source of stress and as a dramatic and fatal situation lost the battle. On the other hand, those who viewed it as a challenge, as a chance for development – survived. You need to find the motivation to get up each day and fight.”

Topalova admits that the road is difficult, but with the support family, relatives and society, every woman can fight.
