Ruse–Varna Road Closed after Crash Involving Two Cars and a Minibus, One Person Killed

The Ruse–Varna road has been closed following a crash involving two cars and a minibus, in which one person was killed. The accident occured this afternoon, August 14, near the village of Pisanets.

According to initial information, a car with Targovishte registration travelling towards Ruse suddenly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a van. After the impact, the two vehicles were thrown apart, allowing a third car to pass between them with only minor damage, according to those travelling in it who spoke to BNT.

Police and emergency medical teams arrived at the scene. One of the injured, a 69-year-old man, died on the way to hospital. A 61-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman sustained multiple traumatic injuries and have been admitted to the intensive care unit at Kanev Hospital in Ruse.

The third victim, a 55-year-old woman, was also taken to hospital for a full medical examination, the medical facility said.

A long queue of lorries has formed at the scene, while passenger cars are being diverted along alternative routes. The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.
