The situation in the Southwestern Bulgarian town of Samokov remains complicated after the floodings caused by the torrential rains. After the storms in the evening on 3 July, Bocludzha river overflowed. Many homes are flooded, property is damaged. The draining of basements continues throughout the day and damage assessments are carried out.
Residents of Samokov say that the water level has reached a meter in the ground floors, and in the basements almost 2 meters. More than 300 alerts have been received by the municipality after the downpour and the flooding. Throughout the night, the municipal services were responding and helping people. Destroyed bridges and roads in the city are yet to be repaired. There are damaged homes and infrastructure also in the nearby villages Dragostinovo, Zlokuchene, Shiroki dol.
The torrential rain on 3 July caused flooding in the town of Samokov. Over 178 litres per square metre were registered in less than 5 hours.
