Today, February 15, caretaker Deputy Minister of e-governance, Blagovest Kirilov, said that he was leaving his post due to lack of transparency. In his position, Kirilov claims that the board of directors of “Information Services”, which deals with the reporting of election results, is not composed according to the results of the competition.
He has stated that he cannot accept this and that his every action is guided by the desire to have transparency of the process, efficiency of the results, and to protect national security, which are key conditions for the smooth running of the upcoming elections.
Blagovest Kirilov's resignation signals the opposite - a lack of these conditions and a serious threat to the normal conduct of the upcoming elections, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) wrote.
"We would like to remind that the BSP has already alerted the OSCE and the PACE about the unacceptable interference of the caretaker government in the elections scheduled for April 2, 2023. We sent documents with specific data on another unacceptable interference in the upcoming early parliamentary elections by the caretaker cabinet of President Rumen Radev. This has already been testified by persons from the President's caretaker cabinet - a deputy minister of e-governance from Radev's cabinet has admitted to the existing risk of election manipulation.
BSP objects to any attempted interference in the elections. We call for an immediate reaction and refer to the Prosecutor's office about possible vote rigging. We call on all parties and NGOs to unite to ensure fair elections," the left-wing party's Executive Bureau said in the statement.
The Ministry of e-Governance specified that the election of independent members of the Board of Directors of “Information Services” was carried out after a public procedure for nomination of candidates for independent members of the Board of Directors of the company.
