On 22nd of February, Sofia City Administrative Court overruled the Regulation of the municipality resulting in the increase of the public transport ticket price from 1 BGN to 1.60 BGN.
The magistrates’ grounds were that the reasons for the increase in the ticket price and the fines for passengers travelling without tickets were not very clear. The magistrates also ruled that there was no specific formula under which the revenues and the expenses formed the price.
The decision of the court is not final and is subject to appeal within a period of 14 days. Sofia municipality said they would appeal in the Supreme Administrative Court.
Until the ruling of the higher instance court, the price of the public transport tickets will remain 1.60 BGN.
