Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome today.
A major meeting between the governments of Bulgaria and Italy will be held in March next year, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov told journalists following his meeting with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni in Rome today, December 1.
During their talks, Zhelyazkov and Meloni discussed issues related to the upcoming European Council meeting, with a focus on the competitiveness of the European economy and mitigating the impact of the green transition.
Rosen Zhelyazkov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria:
"Ahead of the upcoming European Council, we sought to coordinate certain topics that Bulgaria and Italy could jointly raise as issues of concern for the Union — primarily related to competitiveness, policies regarding the Green Transition, and mitigating its impact, particularly in terms of improving the competitiveness of the European economy. We also discussed matters connected to our shared understanding of the measures needed on migration, as well as issues affecting Europe such as the war in Ukraine and our cooperation in the field of defence."
The major bilateral government meeting between Bulgaria and Italy is scheduled to take place in March next year.
