The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will probably keep the third mandate until August 15 and the election of a new chairman of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. This became clear from the words of Kornelia Ninova after a meeting with the leaders of “We Continue the Change”, “Democratic Bulgaria” and “There is Such a People”.
The leaders of the parties will talk with their politicians about a decision to cancel their holiday break (August 1 - 15) until the election of a chairman for the Energy Regulator, which must happen by August 12.
To a journalist’s question about whether BSP will keep the third mandate until August 15, Kornelia Ninova responded:
“It seems this means yes. This is why I asked the politicians to say what they need from us to fulfill their duty to the country and to the people. They were prepared, which I thank them for - with a graph with exact dates, with special sessions of the commission and in the hall.”
The negotiations for forming a cabinet continue according to the plan, Ninova added.
The leaders of the four negotiation parties, “We Continue the Change”, BSP, “Democratic Bulgaria” and “There is Such a People”, gathered in an emergency meeting, called by Kornelia Ninova.
Earlier today, Kornelia Ninova asked for clarity from “We Continue the Change”, “Democratic Bulgaria” and “There is Such a People”, on the amount of time necessary to keep the third mandate and on what laws can be approved by this time. The reason for her question was the “new situation” related to the decision of the Constitutional Court to declare Stanislav Todorov’s election as a director of The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission as unconstitutional.
