A Thracian cult complex, similar to Perperikon and Tatul, from the end of 12th century and the beginning of 9th century BC was discovered by Bulgarian archeologists in the region of Hasara, near the village of Angel Voivoda, Mineralni Bani Municipality, Haskovodistrict in South Bulgaria.
According to the famous researcher prof. Nikolai Ovcharov, the ancient complex was a Sun temple, which was used by the ancient people in the Eastern Rhodopi Mountains.
The complex includes a fortress of 8 decare and a number of rock structures including a church from the Early Byzantine period , a shrine, sun clock, three sanctuaries with altars and a rock tomb.
Prof. Ovcharov says the complex has a great tourist potential.
