According to the Vice President, Invoking Ethnic Divisions in Political Debates Is Unacceptable
Vice President Iliana Iotova called for preserving civil peace in the country and not to allow provocations at the upcoming protests, both today and tomorrow. In Plovdiv she also commented that it is unacceptable to bring up the ethnic map of the country in political debates because such arguments do not exist.
Vice President Iliana Yotova has called for the protection of civil peace in Bulgaria and warned against provocations at the upcoming protests, both today and tomorrow. Speaking in Plovdiv on December 9, she also emphasised that invoking ethnic divisions in political debates is unacceptable, as such issues do not exist in the country.
Iliana Iotova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, said:
“One thing I know – we must do everything possible to safeguard civil peace in the country. The responsibility lies with those organising counter-protests, because we have tracked their history – this is a partisan counter-protest. The big difference compared to the protests we have seen so far in Sofia and other major cities is that people went out spontaneously. The role of the police, the Ministry of Interior, will also be crucial, as clashes must not be allowed under any circumstances. What happened on 1 December is particularly worrying to me because the ethnic card was brought up. I maintain that such a problem does not exist in Bulgaria.”
