"We Continue the Change" on January 9 returned the second mandate for forming a government to Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev.
"I return the folder with the unfulfilled mandate. Unfortunately, this list of national goals with priorities and tasks to achieve them did not receive sufficient political support, but I am sure that the effort was worth it. The discussion, on where Bulgaria should develop in the coming months is yet to come," said the prime minister-designate Nikolai Denkov when returning the unfulfilled mandate.
The head of state raised the issue of the possibility of forming a majority with the third and final mandate to form a government, asking the leadership of "We Continue the Change" whether they could agree with GERB.
"Yesterday your coalition partners from “Democratic Bulgaria” said that the only way to form a government with the third mandate is if an agreement is reached between GERB and you. So I will ask you to discuss this extremely important issue," Rumen Radev said.
From what the party leaders have said in the past days, it is clear that the WCC is ready for talks on the third mandate with everyone. GERB leader Boyko Borissov is proposing a new social contract. The MRF believes it is the most prepared party to implement such a mandate. According to "Vazrazhdane", we should move quickly to new elections.
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), on the other hand, will not support a cabinet with a mandate of the MRF and "Vazrazhdane". “Democratic Bulgaria” says it is now crucial to have a government, but says “We Continue the Change” and GERB should agree. "Bulgaria Ascending" are also ready to get the third mandate.
