Twenty eight migrants were found in a burning vehicle near the village of Rezovo close to Bulgaria’s border with Turkey, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Bourgas said on 23rd of March.
The burning vehicle was discovered near a forest road. It was with Sofia registration and was loaded with gravel.
The fire was extinguished by a team of three firefighters. The 28 migrants who had illegally crossed into the country were found in a secret compartment in the carriage of the lorry.
The driver fled the place of the accident and has not been discovered. Witnesses say the vehicle caught fire during movement.
The migrants were taken by border police officers to the local police station in Malko Turnovo. Work on the case is ongoing.
