BULGARIA’S PRIME MINISTER BORISSOV HELD A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH THE US PRESIDENT ELECT DONALD TRUMP

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov held a telephone conversation with the US president-elect Donald Trump on 16th of December. The two discussed current international and domestic political situation, noting the excellent partnership of the two countries. They expressed their expectation that this partnership would continue to develop in the times of the new US administration.

PM Borissov briefed Donald Trump on the macroeconomic indicators of the country, noting the economic growth, which is one of the highest in Europe; zero inflation; low taxes and low foreign debt.

He pointed out that this stability as well as the role of Bulgaria in the region, make the country one of the safest places for investmnet. Trump and Borissov also discussed the measures that our country was taking to diversify energy sources and routes.

The Prime Minister reiterated his position that the normalization of the situation in the world and particularly in Europe after the migrant crisis could be achieved only with the cessation of military conflicts, which are a major cause for refugee flows. Borisov stressed the role of the leaders of the largest countries in this process.

"On your shoulders rests a huge responsibility, it is a matter of human lives around the world,"

Borissov told Trump.

Donald Trump expressed his expectation that the two could meet in person soon to discuss opportunities for the development of bilateral co-operation.

Trump wished Borissov and the whole Bulgarian nation a merry Christmas and prosperity and success.
