The first air ambulance helicopter was officially presented on February 2.
"This is just the beginning of emergency air ambulance services. I hope this initiative will be successful and in one or two years it will be a standard for us, as it is in other European countries. Better late than never," Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said at the presentation.
The air ambulance landed in Bulgaria yesterday, February 1. The second air ambulance helicopter, scheduled for the operational base in Dolna Mitropolia, is expected to arrive at the end of June this year, and the third one for the operational base in Sliven is expected in December. The remaining three air ambulances will arrive in stages until 2026.
The first six Bulgarian pilots, who have completed training in Italy, have already received their airworthiness certificates.
