At the 27th of March meeting of the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council, Bulgaria requested full access to the Schengen Information System and the EU Visa Information system. This was announced by caretaker Interior Minister Plamen Uzunov, speaking to Bulgarian journalists in Brussels.
He explained that it was extremely important for Bulgaria as an external border and for the effectiveness of the future activities of the Bulgarian services. On the issue of implementation of EU quotas for resettlement of migrants, the minister pointed out that our country fulfilled its commitments. Uzunov added that the EU was discussing the possibilities for return of illegal migrants within operational terms. “Our country is not the only one experiencing difficulties. We are making great efforts, we show solidarity, he said regarding the implementation of the quotas.
