BULGARIAN BEEKEEPERS CONCERNED ABOUT REDUCED HONEY PRODUCTION

Honey production in 2016 is about 50% less in comparison with previous years, beekeepers said on 16th of November. They believe unfavourable climate conditions are the reason for the reduced honey yield. They say that there are problems with the sale of the production and the low prices of the honey.

They have concerns about the envisaged regulation on re-registration of bee families and the requirement to move the bee hives outside human settlements. If this regulation comes into force, the beekeepers say they will stage protests.
