BULGARIA’S CARETAKER PM: BULGARIA’S NOMINEE FOR EU COMMISSIONER WILL BE A WOMAN

Bulgaria’s nomine for EU Commissioner will be a woman, the caretaker Prime Minister Gerdzhikov said on 2nd of March following a steam train ride with cabinet ministers and heads of diplomatic missions to Cherepish monastery. Gerdzhikov also commented on the White Paper on the future of Europe, which was presented by EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. According to Gerdzhikov, Bulgaria has never been in a leading position, but "we do not want to be in the backyard of Europe".

According to Gerdzhikov, the paper is not about two-speed Europe. He believes that the EU should move towards federalisation, which was also his personal dream, otherwise EU can not be on a par with the largest economies in the world - the USA, China, India.

In order not to be in the backyard of Europe, the caretaker government will submit the applications of Bulgaria for the waiting room of the Eurozone - ERM 2. Everything presented in Juncker’s plan is subject to negotiations, Gerdzhikov said.
