Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security (SANS) has expelled a Turkish citizen declared as representing a threat to national security, SANS and the Agency and Ministry of Interior said on 17th of March.
A 5-year ban on entering and residing in the country was imposed on the Turkish citizen.
The Head of SANS issued the expulsion order and the police carried it out.
This was necessary on the basis of data gathered from SANS in view of fulfilling its functions and powers in countering threats to the national security under Article 4 of the Law on National Security Agency.
Speaking to BNT, Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor, Sotir Tsatsarov, said that the same measures should be taken in respect of all other persons who acted similarly in this environment. “It's not about pre-election situation, it is not about influence and political aspirations. It's about national security. It is about actions against the national security. It is about actions against the territorial integrity of the country and everything else, if we talk about the same case, of course, " he added.
