Bulgaria’s State Fund Agriculture Paid over 89m BGN for Tobacco in 2016 Campaign

Bulgaria’s State Fund Agriculture has transferred over 89 million BGN subsidies to 41,000 farmers under the scheme for transitional national aid for tobacco, not related to production, the fund said on 4th of May. The subsidy has been paid in full for the 2016 campaign to producers growing Kabakulak, Burley, Virginia and Basmi varieties during the reference period 2007- 2009.

Bulgaria’s State Fund Agriculture has transferred over 89 million BGN subsidies to some 41,000 farmers under the scheme for transitional national aid for tobacco not related to production, the fund said on 4th of May. The subsidy has been paid in full for the 2016 campaign to producers growing Kabakulak, Burley, Virginia and Basmi varieties during the reference period 2007- 2009.

The assistance under the transitional national aid schemes is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance 3 on the terms and procedure for the implementation of the direct payment schemes. The right to support under the tobacco scheme is granted to farmers who have grown tobacco in any year of the reference period 2007-2009, purchased and boned under the Law on Tobacco and Tobacco Products.

The size of the payment for transitional national non-production tobacco aid is determined by an order issued by the Minister of Agriculture and Food.
