Constitutional Court initiates a case for full annulment of October 27 election results

The Constitutional Court has initiated a case to challenge the results of the elections for members of the 51st Parliament, according to a statement on the institution's website on November 11.

The case was initiated on the request of 58 MPs from the 50th Parliament. Judge Sonya Yankulova is the rapporteur of the case.

"It is a general and prevailing public opinion that the holding of the early elections for MPs in the 51st Parliament was accompanied and filled with numerous and various violations, some of which also have the character of crimes," the request to the Constitutional Court reads.

At the end of last week, "Velichie" party referred to the Constitutional Court with a request for a full annulment of the elections. The party announced that it had received support from 58 MPs of the 50th Parliament. Their demand is backed by We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, There is Such a People, MPs close to fromer Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Kornelia Ninova, and those close to Alliance for Rights and Freedoms leader Ahmed Dogan.

On November 8, the Court initiated a constitutional case at the request of 67 MPs from the 50th Parliament to challenge the legality of the election of MPs in 52 polling stations in the October 27, 2024 early parliamentary elections.
