Dimo Stoyanov, lead singer of the popular Bulgarian alternative/pop-rock band P.I.F, died on December 21 after weeks in hospital for treatment of Covid-19.
Earlier in December , the group had posted an appeal on its Facebook page for blood plasma to treat Stoyanov because his condition had deteriorated.
A donor was found and Stoyanov’s condition was reported to have improved, but despite that the singer did not cope with the illness.
P.I.F group was founded in 1992 by Stoyanov and Ivan Velkov in Varna under the name Resemblence. In that period, the group created songs in English and held performances mainly in Hungary. Since 1999, the band performs in Sofia under the name P.I.F. (Patriots In Fashion). Resemblance group fell apart. Pavlin Bachvarov (pianist), Valeri Cenkov (drummer), and Emilian Bonev (bassist) joined Dimo and Ivan to form P.I.F., releasing its debut album under that name in 2000.
Four albums followed. “Pictures in Frames” was released in 2002, “Passion in Fact “ in 2006, “P,I.F. 4” in 2013 and “ P.I.F” 5 was released in 2015.
