European Council President Donald Tusk expressed his sincere congratulations and wished Prime Minister Boyko Borissov success in his third term as prime minister, the government press service said on 5th of May.

Tusk expressed satisfaction with their joint work over the years, as well as the confidence that their cooperation would continue to be fruitful and constructive in the future.

In a telephone conversation, Tusk welcomed the government's responsible attitude towards the preparation of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 and the desire to have the European topics as highlights of the cabinet's work. In his words, this is yet another opportunity for Bulgaria to have a constructive role in dealing with the challenges and defending the common European values. "I count on you and your government as a key partner for the stability of the Balkans," the European Council President said in his conversation with the Bulgarian Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov stressed that our country would remain a consistent protector of the Euro-Atlantic integration and of Bulgaria's active participation in the common work for the successful development of the EU. Borisov briefly introduced Tusk to the main priorities that the Cabinet had set out at the beginning of its term and on which it would be working in the next four years. The prime minister expressed hope that the two would soon have the opportunity to meet to continue with a more detailed discussion of important topics from the European agenda.
