With a sense of festive mood, Bulgaria’s outgoing caretaker Prime Minister, Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov, opened the final meeting of the caretaker cabinet on 3rd of May.
The ministers approved Bulgaria's position on the issue with Gazprom, released two deputy foreign ministers from the posts at their request and decided to open a branch of Rousse University in the city of Vidin. The meeting was followed by a meeting with President Roumen Radev, who received a report on the work done by the government over the past three months.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Gerdzhikov said that the President gave a very high mark of the caretaker government.
Regarding the ministers in the future cabinet, Gerdzhikov said he had not yet seen the full list, but the liked the names he heard.
13 regular and 2 additional items were on the agenda of the final meeting. No decision was made related to a problem that prof. Gerzhikov described in his report as one of his most important priorities, namely the reduction of administrative fees for the businesses at the Registry Agency.
It turned out that the 14-day deadline for public discussion expired on 3rd of May and it wouldl be a violation of the law if the government voted on the decision.
Prof. Gerdzhikov said that as a specialist in law, he could not afford to break it, but “that will be one of the things I will bequeath to the next cabinet in the hope that it will find a solution because I think it is would be exceptionally useful for relieving the business, he noted.
On 4th of May, after the Parliament endorses the structure and line-up of the new government, the carteker PM will hand over the post to his successor Boyko Borisov.
