Representatives of the Initiative Committee backing Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev for president and vice-president submitted the documents for their registration with the Central Election Commission (CEC) to take part in the election on 25 October.
The documents and a list containing 6,000 signatures were submitted by the co-chair of the Initiative Committee, Konstantin Valkov, and lawyer Vasil Stefanov, a member of the committee, together with presidential and vice-presidential candidates Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev.
Andrey Gyurov, candidate for President: “We expect a direct campaign, close to Bulgarian citizens through meetings and conversations with them. Our priorities are to give them a strong voice and an independent president they can rely on. I am very pleased that we submitted their signatures today. Ultimately, Bulgarian citizens now have both the power and the voice to change the country’s course. I am very grateful for their support. We speak to them every day, we hear their trust and their hope, and I am also grateful to the Initiative Committee for its enthusiasm. We are entering this campaign with one single goal – victory. And that victory will not be for us; it will be for the Bulgarian people. Our commitment is to carry the closeness, openness and integrity of this campaign into the term in office as well.”
