January 26, Friday, will be a non-school day for students in the town of Pernik. The extraordinary holiday is due to the International Festival of Masquerade Games "Surva", which starts on the same day.
As part of the tradition, youth masquerade parade "Survakaryada" will take place on the first day. Groups of students from almost all schools in the municipality of Pernik will participate.
More than 10, 000 participants, including mummers from various parts of Bulgaria including Kukeri, Survakari, Babugeri and Dzhamilari. and foreign groups will be part of the Surva festival programme this year. The masquerade parades will start on Friday and will continue on Saturday and Sunday, so all participants can show the tradition of their region in front of a large audience.
