On December 13, Bulgarian road hauliers have appealed to the Greek chief prosecutor to end the border blockades.
Bulgarian transport companies are calling for enforcement of Greece’s 2017 law, which prohibits the blocking of main roads. According to the sector, the ongoing protests by Greek farmers, for more than days now, are illegal and are costing each lorry passing through the border hundreds of euros. On December 12, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Transport formally raised the issue with the European Commission, requesting urgent intervention.
So far, Greek farmers have refused to engage in dialogue with the government, according to Greek state broadcaster ERT, cited by BTA.
