Mariya Gabriel has been appointed Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information at UNESCO.
She will be in charge of the Communications and Information portfolio and will officially take office on 1 March this year.
The outgoing government of Rossen Zhelyazkov expressed strong support for her candidacy.
Mariya Gabriel currently serves as President of the Robert Schuman Institute.
