With 51 votes in favour, 64 against and 30 abstentions, the majority in the Bulgarian Parliament on January 5 rejected the proposal of Vazrazhdane party to set up an ad hoc committee to establish all the facts and circumstances of the anti-epidemic measures introduced against coronavirus in Bulgaria.
The party demanded that the ad hoc commitee deal with the consequences on the mental health of the people as a reuslt of the introduction of the measures, the concluded contracts for vaccine supply, check into the number of hospitalized patients and audit of the funds allocated for clinical treatment of COVID-19.
"Who will be responsible for the millions of levs spent in a completely senseless way. There are too many questions, and the answers are counted on the fingers of one hand. There is no transparency," said Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov.
According to Hassan Ademov of the MRF, there is no point in setting up such a committee.
The more important question is what this committee would do, the more important question is how the crisis is managed in Bulgaria in general. We understood that this pandemic committee has been set up. The crisis should be managed not only by one ministry. Is the crisis managing us now or are we actively managing the crisis - this is the most important thing," added Hassan Ademov.
