The National Astronomical Observatory in Rozhen organises a Day of Open Doors on June 4th from 10:00 to 17:00, the press office of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences announced as quoted by BTA.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the largest astronomical complex in Southeast Europe and the "flagship" of the Bulgarian astronomy - the two-metre telescope.
The astronomers on duty will talk about the scientific tasks the Astronomical Observatory in Rozhen is working on and about the latest achievements of the Bulgarian astronomy.
The day of open doors is taking place on Pentecost, the feast of the St. Trinity Chapel which is located at the entrance of the observation tower of the two-metre telescope. The chapel was built in 1935, before the observatory was built, and every year welcomes guests on Pentecost.
Over the past year, the National Astronomical Observatory in Rozhen was visited by 20,000 people.
