The restoration of the statue, found during excavations in the ancient city of Heraclea Syntica is expected to begin on August 15. Until now it has been in a crate, but now it is already upright and on display in the History Museum in Petrich, Katya Stoyanova, manager of the project implemented in the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica.

A few days ago, the remarkable artifact was unpacked, further secured and safely put standing in a place where visitor of the Petrich Museum can see it.

The statue now can be inspected, and an analysis can be made of what further procedures need to be carried out on it. So far, only an X-ray of the ankle has been made and it was seen that the crack present is not so scary, but we still decided to secure, Stoyanova said.

So far, the restoration specialist has only seen the sculpture lying down, now he will be able to assess what expertise should be appointed and start work, she added.

The work site will be where it is on display. A movable screen will be set up so the public can observe the entire treatment process.

"We intend to do something that hasn't been done before, to free up a space where people can watch the cleaning and the restoration itself happening before their eyes," Stoyanova said. However, she specifies that for the restoration stage, visitors will be able to observe the expert working when he decides this is acceptable, because some processes require extreme precision and focus.
