Sofia police have prevented a property fraud scheme valued at hundreds of thousands of leva. During a specialised operation, a man and a woman were detained after attempting to sell a 760-square-metre plot of land in the Malinova Dolina district.
During the property transaction, documents were presented that raised the suspicions of the notary handling the deal. The notary alerted the authorities, and investigators subsequently established that the alleged title deed did not exist in the archives of the Registry Agency.
The detained man, aged 52, is known to police and has multiple prior criminal records.
