The Mayor of Bansko municipality, declared a state of emergency in Bulgaria’s town of Bansko on 9th of November. The waters of the river Glazne has risen to a critical level. For the time being, there is no risk for the residents of the town, but the river is under constant monitoring as the rain is ongoing.
The most critical point is 300 m away from the ski resort town, where the rivers Bunderishka and Lebnishka jopin to flow into Galzne river. There is no built riverbed in the section and if the rain continues, the river may become uncontrollable. Glazne river already overflew in the section near the town of Banya, where it flooded agricultural land and several houses. No people or animals have been injured.
