Tension in the refugee centre in Elhovo on June 1 - Ukrainians say they have a problem with water and food for the children. They also complained that it was cold.
More than 560 Ukrainian citizens are accommodated in the temporary centre. Last night Ukrainians left because they were dissatisfied with the living conditions. Some have left by taxi. Others are still at the bus station in Elhovo, because they want to return to Bourgas and look for a place to stay, but now at their own expense.
Tensions in the centre also flared as buses began arriving to move the most vulnerable to state-run facilities - mothers with children younger than 3 and the disabled. Chaos ensued as it was not clear to the Ukrainians who should go where and where they would be moved.
The disabled will be transported to accommodation places in Stara Zagora Mineral Baths (Southern Bulgaria), and mothers with children will be accommodated in the former pioneer camp in Yastrebino (North-Eastern Bulgaria). Lists have been made so that families will not be separated.
"At the moment we are completing the lists that were started in the morning so that we can make the filter for the most vulnerable people who are in the buffer centre , so that they can go to a suitable place - pensioners, people with children over the age of three who could wait one more night here and the fourth list, it is small - we have ten people who have come by car. There are four buses going - they left somewhere around 9:00 from Plovdiv. These are buses that have been provided by the Ministry of Transport. They're going to come so that people can start boarding their luggage, distributing themselves to accommodation places. In addition to Yastrebino, we now have Stara Zagora Mineral Baths, where it is more suitable for people with small children," said Mariana Tosheva, Head of the State Agency for Refugees.
