The Hearing of Mariya Gabriel in EP Will Take Place in June

The hearing of Maryia Gabriel, the candidate for Commissioner from Bulgaria, in the European Parliament will most likely take place in June, she told BNT on 17^th of May from Strasbourg. This is the next step on her way to the European Commission after yesterday EC President Jean-Claude Juncker approved her candidacy. MPs from different political families and from different countries reacted positively to Gabriel's nomination.

Digital Economy and Society is the portfolio that Maryia Gabriel will be allocated in the EC. Before that, however, she need to get the approval of the European Parliament. Sandra Calliente of the EPP group believes that this will be the biggest test in her life.

Sandra Calnite, Deputy Chair of the EPP Group, Latvia: She works hard, is a good colleague, the two of us are in the Foreign Affairs Committee. As a former Commissioner, I can say that she is now facing perhaps the most important test in her life - questions and answers before the European Parliament. I wish her endurance and tranquility to answer perfectly and competently.

According to Elmar Brok from Germany, Boyko Borissov has made a good choice for commissioner.

Elmar Brok, MEP of the EPP Group, Germany: I think Maryia Gabriel's nomination is a very good choice of Prime Minister Borissov. I believe that she will contribute, she knows the job, we know her as a very experienced, intelligent woman, and for this reason I think it is a good choice for Europe and a good choice for Bulgaria.

Ana Gomes of Portugal commented that Gabrell is working hard and believes in European values.

I am convinced of this, as I know how she works in the European Parliament. I am not from her political family, but I respect and admire her work as a parliamentarian.
