Workers from the cigarette factory “Sofia – BT” staged another protest in Bulgaria’s capital city of Sofia on 31st of March against the suspension of production and planned lay-offs in Bulgarian tobacco group Bulgartabac Holding.
Bulgartabak holding explained the temporary closing down of the factory with market shrinkage and said that the laid-off workers would receive compensation at the amount of average 15,000 BGN each. 306 job cuts are expected.
On 30th of March, the tobacco workers staged a protest in front of the building of the Parliament. On 1st of April, the Agency for post-privatization control will start a check in the tobacco holding to identify if the privatization agreement was adhered to or not.
