17 illegal migrants were detained around 10:30 on August 11 at the exit of Veliko Tarnovo, Northern Central Bulgaria, in the direction of Varna. The foreigners were intercepted by the teams of the District Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Veliko Tarnovo, most likely Syrian citizens.
The group of migrants was travelling in two cars with Sofia registration, the drivers of the cars are Serbian citizens. An on-site inspection is underway and the migrants and drivers will be taken to the Regional Police Station in Veliko Tarnovo for questioning and identification.
Pre-trial proceedings will be initiated in the case and charges will be brought against the Serbian nationals.
