She also said that as a caretaker minister she had been trying to leave as many as possible guarded beaches, for which the guarding would be provided through auctioning or concession. As a result, at the end of March, the unguarded beaches were 103, for which the district governors of Varna, Burgas and Dobrich were informed, but more auctions were expected to take place, she explained.

Bankova added that the ministry would continuously upload information about which beaches were guarded and which were not, as well as the price of umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach. Following changes to the procedure, tenants of beaches this year will be able to drop prices if tourists express discontent.

“We expect a successful season, the growth we expect from some destinations is over 25%, but the growths of low-cost companies are significant compared to the previous year, including up to 80% from some destinations. In fact, they have changed the profile of the tourist – we are not talking about sea and mountain tourism only, but eco, spa, and new forms such as industrial tourism, going to ballet and opera performances.
