22 Bulgarian Black Sea beaches with Blue Flag quality label this summer

Bulgaria will work for the establishment of an academy under the auspices of the World Tourism Organisation, the caretaker Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov, said during a conference of the global organization in Sofia, held on June 1. Our country's ambition is to participate in the development of the main policies in the tourism sector, Dimitrov added.

Bulgaria has untapped potential that can be developed through more active interaction with the World Tourism Organisation, its Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili explained.

"Bulgaria has almost everything - cultural heritage, rural areas are very interesting and unique and I am sure these are the components that can distinguish the country. We agreed to invest and support Bulgaria and to create an educational centre," said Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organisation.

Europe's tourism sector has faced many challenges and problems in recent years, Minister Dimitrov said, including a pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, broken supply chains and shortage of manpower for the industry.

A record number of 22 beaches awarded with the Blue Flag quality label will welcome tourists on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast this summer.

"We have the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in recent years. This means they are clean, maintained and ready for tourists, and the prices will be similar to last year's," caretaker Tourism Minister, Ilin Dimitrov, said.

Two beaches on the Northern Black Sea coast and one on the Southern Black Sea coast are among the newly distinguished.
